I have no stand out critique of this movie. Obviously it reminds me a lot of Train to Busan in ways. No, not just cause it's Korean. But spoiler, it's a zombie movie. The zombies look quite similar, same kind of situation of survival, etc. But completely different settings and characters. The character development is a little rough. A little non existent in ways as well. The main character, Jun-u, seems like your typical mid 20s gamer dude. Kind of a doofus, kind of a bro. But ultimately struggling to survive and able to use his nerdy skills as tools for survival. I think the setting is interesting for a zombie flick. I haven't seen a movie that actually just stays in an apartment building instead of having to run throughout the city. Use of drones, texting, etc keeps the story modern. When Jun-u finds out there is another tenant still alive across the complex he becomes somewhat more interesting. But even with the secondary character, Yu-bin, she doesn't have any character development either. Basically all we know about them is that they are both teenagers alone running out of food. The lame title comes from Jun-u posting about being alive on Instagram and using that as a way to hopefully be found by rescue crews.
Although it makes sense for them to work together to survive, I wonder if it is useful at all? Maybe for mental health. But another person just makes less resources like food and water. They aren't the best survivors I've seen in previous movies. They are loud, uncalculated and sloppy. The movie isn't that suspenseful. Not very heartfelt. Filmed and acted well - but it doesn't really leave much of an impression on you. Decent movie for a boring afternoon. Not many cool kill scenes. Lots of down time. 6.5/10 ? Lesson learned? Keep your shelves stocked. Also I would recommend turning off the English audio and just reading the subtitles on Netflix if that wasn't obvious enough.
